The Lagos born and bred multi talented photographer has revealed more reasons why Nigerian photographers and other photographers shouldn’t limit their efforts into one time sponsorship of their craft but should embrace the social media in promoting and making it mandatory for them to monetize their beautiful craft to enjoy what other industry of today benefits from through the help of social media. Read his chat and as it’s been quoted:
“Every moment I spend as a photographer always get me asking myself one question, what is the future of photography? maybe in Nigeria for a start. For many of us who spend time and resources creating beautiful piece of art our soul desire, what is our reward?Few weeks on social media and the rest becomes history. Talking about reward, what is the point of investing in what one random traffic hawker will lift, produce and sell in Lagos traffic? When can we begin to make tangeable royalties like our colleagues in the music and movie wings of the entertainment industry? As usual, when I have a lot to pour out, my good friend, Iyinkaye Oręòlùwà Al-Ameen is my next dial. We spoke for minutes and I was determine to birth or follow a trend; but would it be first of it kind in our sector?Everything, I mean anything in this world can be paid for on demand only if it carries value. So can we begin the value chain for our works? Yes.Then let’s start with having people go all the way to view our art before it gets saturated on the social media. It might not make lot of sense to you but it surely makes sense for a vision of the morrow.
